Having been greeted with sloppy kisses by two large dogs as she
arrived home from the hospital mere days after entering this world, may
be the reason Marybeth has had a special connection with animals from
that day forward. She began her first paid job at eight years old
training neighborhood dogs and has been hooked on animal training
for life. From mice to mules, emus to equines, Marybeth has a
unique connection and ability to understand the nature of animals and
create a mutual understanding.
With an animal family made up of rescued and adopted animals
numbering more than 50, she has had ample opportunity to observe and
study the language of their behavior and interactions. A
love for the free spirit of wild horses and fear for their desperate
fight for survival led Marybeth to rescuing mustangs and gentling them
for a future in good and loving homes. Handling wild mustangs
demands a gentleness, patience, and respect that Marybeth has come to
cherish. She considers these horses her mentors of HorseSpeak™,
teaching her their language. This understanding, combined
with a desire to better the relationships between horses and their
people, has led Marybeth down the path of presenting seminars and
clinics in addition to training.
Marybeth's application of equine behavior and communication in
everyday training has developed into her own methodology she has termed
Horsespeak™. Whether starting
a young horse or deciphering the cause of a "problem" horse, the key to
understanding horses is to never stop listening to them and remember
there is always more to learn.
